Locations for these club activities may vary. Currently we host our Zoom online activities at the garage between 501 and 503 Kathryn Avenue. Teachers typically lead the classes out of their homes in Santa Fe.
We are offering an after school training for teenagers at Monte del Sol Charter School in Santa Fe and participate in their mentorship program. We may also rent other venues, or in the summer go outside into the park or to the Farmers Market with our activities.
We collaborate with other regional capoeira groups offering a bi-monthly event called "Vamos Vadiar New Mexico" where we get together for a roda and share our game with each other. We can't wait for the corona crisis to be over to be able to get back to this routine!
Please wear long pants to class, abadas or trainer pants. We have a t-shirt and uniform pants for sale if you really want to dress for the occasion. Wearing a uniform for an online class can help you make your purpose more real. It gets you into a space of taking your training serious, giving your best and benefitting the most from each session to advance in the art form.
We are also working toward our first batizado, delayed by the corona virus, when our students will get the cordas they trained so hard for!
Free online classes available!
Our ongoing capoeira training is now happening in a club format and online. You can become a member of our club by making a recurring monthly donation of $30 (kids $20) to Capoeira Santa Fe below. If this is a financially hard time for you, please be our guest and take our classes for free for the time being.
Learn the movements, music and cultural history of this fun Brazilian art form created originally by African slaves in their struggle for liberation! It is as much a martial art as a practice of movement and body awareness involving strength, flexibility, trickery and joking. In the past decades, capoeira has gone out from Brazil, creating schools and groups all over the world. On the shoulders of the tradition, each mestre and each local group create their own unique cultural expression with it. We are looking forward to sharing ours with you!

We are appreciative and grateful to mestre Suelly from Albuquerque for having taught a series of six classes this summer to benefit our Santa Fe students. Mestra, it is great to have you and mestre Acordeon in our neighborhood, and we hope for more fruitful collaboration in the future!
